Fashion at Home. Personal Sanctuaries of Nannette Lepore, Jill Stuart, Anna Sui, & Milly

December 22nd, 2011 by kathleen

I’ve always wondered how and where fashion designers live. Do their homes reflect their designs? Or do they choose to go home to a “neutral” space? Some of my questions were answered in this Elle Decor article which gives a glimpse into the personal world of a few top designers.

Nannette Lepore’s Manhattan Townhome:

Jill Stuart Manhattan apartment:

Anna Sui Greenwich apartment:

Sidenote: I think I may be spending a LOT of money this spring. I’m dying over these Jill Stuart and Milly looks right now.

Fun, Personalized Art for Your Home

December 20th, 2011 by kathleen

If you are looking for some unique pieces of art for your home, you must check out Carter Kustera! This Brooklyn silhouette artist is my personal favorite. Kustera makes custom paintings to represent ALL the members of your household.

Whenever Jon (my hubs) and I start our little family, this will be our first big purchase. I love the idea of lining them all up in a mud room or up a staircase to showcase the fun, quirky side of your family. Simply put, these just make me really, really happy : )

‘Tis the season of online shopping and I feel like I have spent A LOT of time lately perusing the web. One thing I can’t help but notice is the color teal. A deep, dark, luxurious teal. I am mesmerized by it.

It all started with this Chloe bag:

But then I couldn’t help but notice the deep, rich color everywhere! I can’t get enough of it!

Office Nooks

I have an “i love it” folder on my desktop full of random pictures and ideas I love – pictures of art, fashion, inspiring quotes, and obviously interiors. The folder just sits there, getting larger and larger. So with this post, I want to share one of my favorites: The Office Nook. I came across the image above awhile ago and thought it was an ingenious idea. Need an office but don’t have a spare room? Voila!

This is the perfect place to go wild with bright colors and a patterned wallpaper. It completely transforms a closet into something really special.

Anyone can have their own little oasis at home. And if you create a mess? Just shut the doors!

Get Bold

December 14th, 2011 by kathleen

I love bold, vibrant colors and I especially love when people aren’t afraid to use them in their home. A little splash of color goes a long way. Using color in an unexpected way can make a dramatic statement. Break free from the norm – ceilings don’t always have to be white and doors don’t have to be brown.

Look what happens when you add some “oomph” to your front door.

Give your boring front door a facelift. All you need is a little bit of paint!
